Perne Road shops - an update

Light at the end of the tunnel!

We know how strongly people feel about getting the shops back on the Radegund Road roundabout.

It has been an ugly eyesore for far too long, way back to when Peterhouse owned it.

It was also really sad that the last newsagents was shut as the property owners wanted a sale with ‘vacant possession’.

So it’s good now to hear there is some light at the end of the tunnel … current owners Almaren (also responsible for building the ‘Marque’ on the Cherry Hinton Road/Hills Road junction) say they hope to conclude its sale to a housing developer in a couple of weeks.

When building finally starts, it may take nearly a year to complete.  But we know plans are progressing because there is talk of a McColls Newsagents and also a vets being in the shop units too.

We will update people when we hear more.
