I have a problem with my application for my first British passport. I was Chinese national before but became naturalised as British citizen in 2014, and changed my name to Chenston in 2016. Now I am applying for my first British passport. The official of HM passport office has asked me to apply first for a new Chinese passport with my new name. Then submit the new Chinese passport to the HM passport office. Only then, they can accept my application, on the ground that I do not have travel documents with different names.

But this is impossible for me as China does not recognise dual nationality and considers a Chinese national to have automatically lost Chinese nationality after having joined another country’s citizenship. I am now a British citizen and changed my name in Britain after I had become a British. The Chinese Embassy does not recognise me as a Chinese national and won’t accept my application for a Chinese passport. I have contacted the Chinese Embassy in London and given my feedback to the HM passport office. But the official insists on their demand. I feel this not understandable.

Could I meet with a councillor and seek help?

Thank you for your attention to my problem

Hi. I wanted to make you aware that there is a telephone cable hanging perilously over Perne Road (number DP33: near Budgens corner). Could become an issue when / if it gets worse i.e. Hanging in front of cyclists and motorists.

Raise an issue about the Radegund roundabout changes – specifically lack of zebra crossings at the new crossing points. The cars rarely stop and frequently block the crossing at peak times. Particularly dangerous at the r’bout exit points where cars have picked up speed. With my children have defaulted back to crossing at the lights and don’t even bother using the crossings any more when on my bike.
