Budgens Car Park Resurfacing

Why Budgens shoppers have reason to smile...

Shoppers and residents using Budgens car park on the corner of Perne Road and Cherry Hinton Road will be pleased to know that resurfacing work commenced on 31st August, and the majority of the work is now complete.

County Councillor for Coleridge Ward, Noel Kavanagh, says "There have been complaints about the abysmal condition of the surface of the car park for a number of years now. Shoppers, particularly the elderly, and residents in the flats above the retail premises, have run the risk of injury through tripping over ruts and potholes in the parking area in front of Budgens. Repairs to the car park have not been carried out because it was believed the area was privately owned.  Coleridge Ward councillors have complained for years about the hazards residents  and shoppers faced using the car park.  Finally, County Council research into old records revealed that the space in front of the shops is indeed public highway and the responsibility of the County Council. I, fellow Councillors and Coleridge Ward residents are very pleased the County Council has been able to secure the funds to finally undertake this much needed re-surfacing of the car park".
